FAQ

  • 01

What is the first step in planning a renovation project?

Before anything else it is advisable to meet with us and discuss your ideas. We can give you a good idea of costs and possibilities so that you are able to proceed toward a more concrete plan. Once drawings are made and finishings are chosen we can provide an estimate for the work. If you decide to proceed we can make a timeline for the work and schedule a start date.

Does JCC take care of organizing subtrades, materials, and design?

We are able to take care of everything including design work, but often our clients will have a design professional before they contact us. As far as the organization and performance of the work, we take complete responsibility.

  • 03

Do we choose the finishings we would like? Are we responsible to buy and transport them?

The choice of finishings rests entirely with you. We give our clients the option of buying their finishings through our affiliates with our price discounts or from other stores. Whether you buy the finishings through us or not we assist with every step of the process including transportation.

  • 04

When JCC provides an estimate does it include everything? What about unforeseen problems?

An estimate is limited to a particular scope of work. We try and make our estimates as complete as possible and to take account of different possibilities so that the client can determine how much or how little is affordable at the start. There are, however, unforeseen situations which arise during the course of projects. We recommend that clients keep some budget aside for these situations, and we always do our best to minimize the cost of these modifications and their effect on the client’s overall budget.

  • 05

How do we schedule work? Are you able to perform the work at a time of our choosing?

We can arrange a date for work to start and finish together. Most often we are able to arrange our schedule to best suit your needs.

  • 06

Can we live at home during the renovation?

It depends on the type of renovation, but it is best to start with a realistic expectation of what living through a renovation consists in. If after reviewing the situation it seems reasonable our team will do its best to make it as hassle free as possible. We will protect non-work areas and seal them off from other areas being renovated. We can also provide temporary set-ups for kitchens and other essentials.

  • 07

What kind of guarantee do you offer?

We offer a one year guarantee on our materials and workmanship.

  • 08

    Is JCC licensed and insured?

Yes we have a General Contractor’s license from the Regie de Batiment du Quebec and are insured for up to $1,000,000.

  • 09

Are the payments made in instalments? How is the schedule determined?

Each contract has a payment schedule included. It outlines the responsibilities of the contractor and client. We never put our clients in a position of paying for a large portion of work up front. We know that when our clients are satisfied there are few difficulties in collecting the required payments.
